What is the process for printing? We use Epson printers and genuine Epson Ultra-chrome inks for all of our prints. The inks will not fade for generations. It is rated to last 100 years. The UV protector is incorporated into the canvas materialand in the ink, therefore it is already included in the price, you don't have to pay extra for it and it leaves the canvas print more flexible for mounting therefore preventing cracking. Take a look at the material specifications here.
What type of canvas fabric do you use ? Our canvas material is a high quality, water resistant poly-cotton blend. It has a PH neutral, acid free coating with a pure white point. This allows for greater consistence from print to print. For our unstretched rolled printed canvas posters & banners we use Satin Canvas.
What type of printers and inks do you use ? We use the Epson 9800's and the new state of the art Epson 11880's that allow us to print up to 60" wide by 480" long. We also use the Epson Ultra-chrome K3 inks that are rated to last 80 to 100 years. Are your printedcanvas archival ? Absolutely. Every aspect of our prints is archival from the canvas and gesso to the ink and UV coating.
Do you consider your process giclee? Yes, our process is giclee. Giclee is the process of making fine art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing.
I would like to order a print but I do not have an image If you would like to order a print but you do not have an image, we have a large collection of images that you can choose from. This image/photo will be provided to your FREE of charge. Check out our Photo Category on the left side menu of the homepage.
What types of files can you use ? For more information and technical specifications, please click on the following link "Important Photo-File Information".
How do I need to prep my files for printing? The first step is to set up your file correctly for printing. What ever your target size is on the front face of the poster, you want to add an additional 4 inches for the height and the width. This will create a 2 inch border on each side for the wrap of the canvas. If really necessary, the most we can print is 59" in width, leaving you only 1/2" for stretching, however it is recommended that you have at least 1" for mounting, but of course it is all up to you if you want 0.5", 1.0 or 1.5" for stretching the printed poster over the wooden frame.
Second, pull your guide lines from your rulers in Photoshop 2 inches from each edge. This will create your template for your target size. Anything inside the guides will be on the front face of the printed canvas; anything outside the lines will be the wrap of the canvas.
For example, if you are ordering a 16x20, the file would need to be set up as a 20x24 at 100 dpi(ppi).
Will my image be pixelated ? Absolutely not! As long as we start with a clear image, we can make it as large as you like without pixelation. If your file is crisp going in, it will be crisp coming out, as long as the dpi is correct. We need your file - picture to be sized at actual size at 100dpi (a 16x20 will be sized at 20x24 for a gallery wrap).
What type of adjustments do I need to make to my file(s) for canvas prints ? Treat your files (photo) as you would for your paperprints. To see all the preparation you might need to do, please click here
Can I do my own Color Correcting ? If you choose to color correct your own images we highly recommend previewing your images on a correctly calibrated monitor. We do offer color correction at no additional cost. If you chose to have us correct your file, our trained printing experts will print for best possible color and density. Color and density is subjective and prints may appear different under varied lighting conditions. Reprints due to color and density will be reviewed on a per printed basis and may, at our request, require a match paperprint to be supplied to insure satisfaction.
How do I change the dpi of my image without re-sampling the file (pixels)? Once you open your image in Photoshop, go to Image/Image Size. In your Image Size window, make sure the re-sampled Image box is unchecked. Then change your resolution to 100 dpi.
Do I need to re-sample my file(s) before ordering? No, you do not need re-sample your file(s). Our RIP(Raster Image Processing) software will take care of that for you.
If the frame is an 1 1/2", why do I need to add 2" on each side to my file? We have you add 2 inches on each side of the poster because a 1/2" from each side will wrap the back of the frame where it is stapled and assembled.
If I order a split panel, how do I need to set up the file ? Setting up a split panel can be tricky. First, determine your overall target size for the front face of the canvas.
Second, decide how you want your image to be split. You can split your image into even panels or uneven panels. Once you have decided how many panels you want, pull guides at each dimension where the panel will split.
Third, remember to add an additional 4 inches to your height and width for the outside wrap of your image.
Fourth, pull guides two inches from each guide that you placed to split the image. Then crop each panel of the image using the adjusted guides.
